Raider  $650

20+yr old, 15h, bay QH type gelding.  This horse was an obvious western pleasure show horse but the way he holds his head, gives to leg and rein pressure.  He would make an ideal first horse for someone looking a horse for light riding.  Because he is older he would do great if put on supplements like Adequine, Legend or MSM.  He is push button and deserved a nice light riding retirement home.

Fellow Rebel Friends, I feel the importance of sharing our beloved horse Raider, an October 2012 rescue from the Zillah feedlot, had to be put down December 13th as a result of paralysis of his hind legs. This heart-wrenching decision came through advice from our vet, and consultants at the WSU veterinary clinic. Last week, on two separate occasions Raider had difficulty getting up in the mornin
g, but he managed with encouragement. We thought his blanket was hanging him up so made some adjustments; the second time the blanket came off. Thursday morning found Raider with full paralysis of his hind legs. We tried unsuccessfully to get him up with a tractor/sling device. He just was not able to control his back region.

There were several symptoms Raider displayed that we initially thought contributed to his poor physical and mental well-being. When in movement the tip of his hind hooves would drag the ground. He never really lifted his head high, and had a particular way of turning his head without turning his neck. All warning signs of something far more serious.

I want you to know we deeply loved our horse Raider Gilbert, and put our heart and soul into caring for him. Raider was a kind, sweet horse with a gentle soul. Raider died with dignity surrounded by those who loved him very much. He is buried on our family property and will forever be with us.

We are forever grateful for the efforts of the Rebels Equine Feedlot Sales to save horses in a bad situation; it was through their program we found our Raider.
