Wow!  My family called me crazy but I can't imagine the alternative.  When we picked Faith and her colt up at the feedlot, there was another paint filly I couldn't forget and the following week, we went back to get her too.  Now that filly has developed strangles and we sometimes wonder if it was wise to risk spreading that to neighboring horse farms.   Just today, we stood out in the field looking at Kate, Faith and baby Moonshine and said "but if we hadn't, they wouldn't be alive today".  We watched them all run and play together as the rain started to pour down under a purple black sky.  It was joyful!   Very Happy

Hopefully soon, Lucy Anne will be well enough to get out of solitary confinement and join them.

Chuck did keep Faith and Moonshine separate from the slaughter horses while at the feedlot and Kate did quarantine at Sams so the risk of any of them spreading strangles was very minimal.

However, it is always a good idea to quarantine any horse that comes off the feedlot itself.

I'm hoping Lucy Anne can join her new family in their rompings VERY soon!!
