Good idea, Helen.

There is absolutely no reason why fugly needed to post Chucks name or location to get their point across.  By pointing the finger at Chuck, fugly is making it impossible for us to help any further TBs. They could certainly have stopped at the owner and trainer.

Of course we ALL want the owners and trainers to step up and take responsibility for their animals.  But until there is some process in place to watch over these people, the best WE can do is to find homes for any horses that end up on this feedlot.

If people would put their time, effort and attention toward solving the problem, coming up with solutions, we could save many more lives.

I agree 100% Melis!!!!

mThe owner gave him to someone to retrain who sold him to the person that took him to Chuck.

I am editing this because this woman is being harassed at work and I hope she will bring that mob down.

Let me start by saying I am NO Chuck fan.  However, I have to give him credit for allowing us to rehome so many beautiful thoroughbreds.  How many times has he had to put up with hassles and still let us back on the lot to evaluate and list horses? How many times has he held good horses back and given us a few more days?  He makes a living in a really awful way, in my opinion, BUT he recognizes a good horse when he sees one, and something in him doesn't want  a good horse to go to waste.  Fugly really didn't do our horses any good by "outing" anyone.  The legal route is tedious and inefficient, but in the long run it's the best way.  I fully understand her frustration with the process.  I am frustrated and angry too at irresponsible ownership and breeding.  But I can't solve the entire problem, not with the wave of a wand or a stroke of a pen.  I can work toward saving one  horse at a time while I work toward getting laws changed.  Now my hands are tied on part of that.  And as a result, horses will die that didn't neccessarily have to.

Perhaps, if we are very lucky, the new 180 day holding requirement will make this sordid business less financially appealing, and our efforts to rehome horses will be a more appealing option.   And if we are even luckier, Chuck will realize that we are not Fugly, and that working with us gets him his money and puts good horses to good use.  Maybe.  SO in the meantime, it is back to work promoting the horses we do have access to and educating people about the problems of overbreeding, poor management, and the inhumane practice of slaughter - getting the public to understand why there needs to be rules, and getting people to follow them.

This didnt need to happen. Lanne could have quietly contacted the owner and got the story. I hold her responsible for the whole thing.
